The Washtenaw County Trial Court consists of two divisions:
- Civil/Criminal Division OverviewThe civil/criminal division of the Washtenaw County Trial Court is the 22nd Circuit Court of general jurisdiction in Washtenaw County. This division has jurisdiction over all actions except those given by state law to another court. General ly speaking, the civil/criminal division has original jurisdiction in all civil cases involving more than $25,000, and in all criminal cases where the offense involves a felony or certain serious misdemeanors.
- Family Division OverviewThe Family Division of the Washtenaw County Trial Court has jurisdiction over proceedings involving family matters. Generally speaking, the Family Division has original jurisdiction in all divorce matters (including the Friend of the Court,) personal protection orders, name changes, juvenile matters, probate matters, and adoptions.
